Intel Teams Up With Croma To Bring Affordable 2-In-1 For Rs 21,990

Ever since the dawn of 2014, we have seen Intel shouting its way into the mobility arena in an aggressive manner partnering with the likes of Asus and forming alliances with more OEMs. So when Intel decides it’s time to play in the volumes market, Croma is at the forefront of its strategy, which has come out in the form of an 8 inch tablet and Intel powered 2-in-1 running on Windows 8.1. Croma has been visible in the white goods market with its branded laptops and accessories among others but with Intel’s stamp on its head, the electronics retail chain is now looking to go the devices segment. We’ve already seen the likes of Flipkart making its case in the tablet space when it recently launched the DigiPro slate priced in the affordability bracket. And now with the aforementioned products, Croma aims to change its image with expertise from Intel.

The 8 inch tablet branded as 1179 packs an Intel Atom processor, clocked at 1.3 GHz and paired with 2 GB of RAM. You’ll find a pair of 2 MP cameras on either side of the 8 inch slate that is equipped with 1280×800 pixels resolution. On the storage front, you get 32 GB of space, further expandable via microSD also and loaded with a 5000 mAh battery should be competent enough to manage your tasks. The tablet weighs 390 grams and offers support to connectivity on-the-go via 3G dongle.

But the more eye catching device is the 1177 2-in-1 Windows tablet that reminds us of the popular Microsoft Surface Pro that has never made its way to India. This 2-in-1 sports a 10.1 inch 1280×800 pixels display with touch support and running on Windows 8.1 platform. Running on the same 1.3 GHz Intel Atom chipset and 2 GB RAM, this device is seen more as a netbook alternative, costing pretty much the same as well at Rs 21,990. Without a shadow of doubt, Croma 1177 is the most affordable Windows 2-in-1 you’ll find in the market. The tablet gets attached to a magnetic hold on the cover that works in three-way form; keyboard dock, side stand and read-mode stand. This one weighs around 600 grams and offers internal 32 GB storage, expandable up to 128 GB. In terms of connectivity you get a 3G/4G via SIM slot that’s not calling supported. The 2 MP cameras are available on the 2-in-1 also, supplementing multimedia purposes.

Croma is bundling this tablet with a keyboard dock and offering lifetime subscription of Microsoft Office and 1 year for Office 365 bundled out-of-box. Both the devices will be available via Croma outlets across the country from next week onwards and Cromaretail.com will be selling the device at a later date.
