Installadz reader-photographers assembled to photograph the color green
in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, and what would you know, there’s not a toxic Miller Light in sight. Enjoy!

Aurora Borealis

This is a picture of the Aurora Borealis from my trip to Kiruna, Sweden. I used a Canon 70D sitting on a Joby Tripod with a Ballhead X. Used a Sigma 10-20mm, F3.5, 20 second exposure, ISO 800 This was at our camp for the night after a 30km dog sled trip from Kiruna.

Aaron Oaks

Clover Bug

Canon T3i with Tamron 24-70 mm lens. No flash. F/4 at 51 mm focus at 1/100 sec. ISO 100 No exposure setting. Photoshop CS6 used to resize. No editing was done. Cloudy day and no flash explain why saturation is small.

Gems

At the jewelry store I work for, I put together a variety of differently colored green gemstones and took a photo inside my photo box. I used a Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS on auto and edited the contrast and shadowing to bring out the greens a little further.

Christopher Catalono

Cabbage

This patch of cabbage was spotted at my local produce market. I liked the texture of the leaves, and the gradients of green to white. The image was captured with my Nokia Lumia 635. It was post processed in Paint.net for contrast and brightness, as well as hue to make it just a little bit more green.

Jonas Demuro

Saturated

I attend Cal Poly Pomona and my campus has a lot of green, so I knew exactly what I wanted to capture when I saw the topic of this challenge. I spent my break between classes looking for the perfect shot, and soon enough came across this view. I used my Samsung S5 to take this picture on auto settings, since it was a little gloomy I used Photoshop express to emphasize the green.

Abed Zarruq

The Green Door

Taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T3. I did some minor post processing to adjust the white balance and colour levels to make the green slightly more rich. The weather was beautiful and the time of day was early evening. We stumbled upon this green door and I decided to snap a picture for my first shooting challenge submission.

Kinda Teal, But Still Neat!

This image was made using green food coloring and bubbles with a reverse mount to get the macro effect. The bubble shows a reflection out the window I was shooting from. I think the line down the middle looks like a stem connected to the bottom leaves of a four-leaf clover. So yay St Patricks Day! Canon 5dmkii, 24-105 f/4 lens, Neewer Multifunctional Electronic Automatic Reverse Mount. Shot at 95mm, f/4, 1/30sec, ISO 160

16 Gorgeous Green St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

I pondered green quite a bit and not feeling the Irish in me I thought maybe some first glimpses of fresh greenery here in SW Ohio. Well… there isn’t any. Yet. But I was remarking the other day how funny I thought it was that my most jealous cat also had green eyes. Days later the connection was made. Yes; I am that slow sometimes. Canon 7D with 100mm macro, 1/100-second @ f/9 and ISO 400 taken at front door with sunlight streaming through.

Mark Alfson

Bursting

I was walking in the woods and green was everywhere because it is spring. I looked down and these green plants were bursting out of the brown earth. Canon 6D, 50mm Sigma 1.4 Lens.

William Rekshan

Alien Colonoscopy

I wasn’t going to work on this week’s challenge – green beer is pass√© and it’s too grey around here to be green – but when a Sherwin-Williams commercial came on, I had my subject. The commercial consists of swirling colors (RGB to be exact). Comcast DVR isn’t the best at pausing, but I managed to get this one. Taken with a Nikon D7100 and Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G. ISO 200, f/3, 1/25.

Win Barker

Green River

Chicago River being dyed green prior to the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Equipment and Settings: Canon T3i with 75-300mm lens at 300mm, ISO 800, f/8, 1/500

S

Out of inspiration on my way home from a 4 hour walk, looking anything. One block to go and out of the corner of my eye, this guy. All alone, relegated to this small portion of a dumpster. Ill take a sign when i see it. Taken with a Sony A7ii, using a 28-70mm @ f/5.6. Shutter 1/100. ISO 100. Played with the exposure offset and gamma correction in photoshop to give it a slightly more stylized feel.

Stuart Clark

Bummermobile

I was sorta bummed out I couldn’t find a green car to photograph that stood out, so I played with the tint on a fancy Italian car which will go unnamed. This photo was taken with an iPhone 4s and edited with Photoshop Express.

Bobby Gutierrez

Lasers

I was taking pictures at my daughter’s laser tag birthday party when the my speedlight ran out of batteries. So, I spent some time shooting the laser lights on the ceiling. I shot this with my Canon 5D for 1/5 of a second to collect enough light and capture some of the movement of the lasers. I didn’t have a tripod, so I used one of the barriers in the laser tag field to hold the camera steady. The image was cropped and the highlights lowered in Lightroom.
